Summary

PENGUIN RANDOM HOUSE TITLE WAVE PICK。
A gripping novel about the whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer, revealing the mystery behind their infamous break up。

Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity 。 。 。 until now。

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L。A。 in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go。 The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most。 By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things。

Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne。 On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road。

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together。 What happens next will become the stuff of legend。

The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies。 Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice。

*Audiobook*This book was made to be an audiobook。 The actors who read it were AMAZING。 Such a gripping storyline and good character development。 I can’t believe this isn’t about a real-life band and a real album- I’m so intrigued by Aurora。 Everything in the book felt so real: the characters, the songs, the emotions。

It really felt like I was watching a documentary the entire time! I loved the detail in this novel and the depth of every character。 Well done TJR!

this book makes me feel like i’m living though muted colors but i don’t think that was the authors intention

At ~20% this had still not captured or kept my interest, not worth finishing for me。However, Spotify has a "Daisy Jones & the Six" playlist that met my audio needs today :) At ~20% this had still not captured or kept my interest, not worth finishing for me。However, Spotify has a "Daisy Jones & the Six" playlist that met my audio needs today :) 。。。more

Sobbed, Cried, Screamed, Yelled。 This book is so painfully real and heartbreakingly beautiful。 Should be a required book for every musician because it’s just。 so。 good。 the music industry thrives on stories like this fr。

I read this book and honestly thought “what’s the big deal about this book?” But by the end it all came together and then it was pretty good。

i have so many different emotions about all the characters (besides warren love him to fucking pieces) but i think the whole point of the book was to show you the good the bad and the ugly and it gave what it was supposed to and beyondddddd

I absolutely LOVED this book。 The story of a 1970s band, the inception, the success, the hardships。 So we’ll written and I loved all the characters。 It reads like a documentary and is loosely based on Fleetwood Mac, which is one of my favorite bands of all time。 If you love music and are partial to the 70s era, this is not a book you will want to miss。 I listened to the story on audible and I feel like that added to the magic of the story。

Sooo this is my first time reading The Queen Taylor Jenkins Reid and I love it!, I listened to the audio book and I think it was what made my experience way better, this is so beautifully written, I loved Daisy and the rest of the band。There's this particular scene we're Daisy is in this gorgeous pink dress in the pool, I pictured perfectly in my mind, I may draw it in the future, anyway, it was awesome。 Sooo this is my first time reading The Queen Taylor Jenkins Reid and I love it!, I listened to the audio book and I think it was what made my experience way better, this is so beautifully written, I loved Daisy and the rest of the band。There's this particular scene we're Daisy is in this gorgeous pink dress in the pool, I pictured perfectly in my mind, I may draw it in the future, anyway, it was awesome。 。。。more

Reviews seem to vary quite a bit and I have two theories。。。 (this is just my 。02)1) I think this book holds more appeal for a certain generation。 If you were a teen in the US in the early-to-mid 1970's, loved rock & roll, read TigerBeat and 16 Magazine, and sang into your hairbrush in your bedroom, you'll likely resonate with this story。 If none of that was part of your youth, I completely understand the 2 star review! The last pages were the best and almost made me bump it up to 4, yet I didn’t connect with the characters, other than Camila。 Reid can really tell a story though and I look forward to Carrie Soto

I gave this a shot based off the tik tok fame and tremendous reviews。 I think it was a fine book。 I liked the journey we went on and the multiple perspectives。 You need to be able to keep up with this book and characters for it to all fall in place, but it was a very nice book。

Ashley

I read this as an audiobook, and once again, TJR captured me with her characters。 I’m not sure if reading the print version would have had the same effect, but it was a very compelling audiobook with a full cast。 I don’t normally like a full cast audiobook because the literary voice seems too disjointed。 But given that this book was written in the format of a transcript, it worked beautifully。

I’m so disappointed。 I loved The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo so I was really excited to explore more of this author’s work。 This book was extremely hyped up so I had high expectations。 I kept waiting…and waiting for this plot to take off。 The 1970s music scene insight was interesting, but that’s where it ends for me。 It’s almost like everything was wrapped up too nicely for the main characters。 I wasn’t devastated that they never ended up together because their love was never。。explored I guess? I don’t even know why I’m surprised but this book was so freaking good, I can’t even begin explaining why。 Taylor Jenkins Reid did it again, and I would give this book more stars if I could!

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! I wanted to know how the story ended so badly but didn’t want the book to end at all。 Sometimes I feel no connections to characters。 In this book, I felt connected to all of them。 Add this to your list today。 Favorite lines: I went home and told my mom I met somebody。 And she said, “Nice boy?” And I said, “I don’t know about that。” Nice never did much for me。 “Don’t count yourself out this early。 You’re all sorts of things you don’t even know yet。”

4。5 starsI would recommend the audiobook over the physical。 The audiobook had different voice actors for each character and made it feel like you were listening to the recorded interviews。 It added an extra element, which I loved。
